breast implant

Breast implants have changed considerably over the last years. These implants or other changes to the breast, called breast augmentation, has been something that women have been considering and partaking in for decades. The good news is that many of today's products work better and are safer than ever before.

You may not have realized it, but the first procedures were done in 1890 when a paraffin injection was inserted in women who wanted to have larger breasts. Later, in 1920, the technique was no longer used and instead fatty tissues were moved from other areas of the body and inserted in the breast area. It would be another 30 years before the next change in breast implants occurred. In 1950, the polyvinyl sac was created. It gave women a fuller breast and it helped to project the breasts further outward. This was a good option for some years and in the 1960's new technology helped to process the next major product, the silicone implant, though it would not be used until the 1980's.

Today, breast implants that you will get are usually silicone shells that are filled with a saline solution. These implants are relatively safe to use and they cannot be damaged easily, which is why so many individuals have started to use them.

However, why do women want breast implants? The answer to that question is never an easy one, but there are some benefits that can be found from this type of surgery. The most common reason is to increase the size of the breast because they feel that the one's they have right now are simply too small. Another reason may be to improve the body's contouring or shape, to give better proportions. Others may wish to use a cosmetic procedure to help them to have reconstructive surgery after losing a breast to an illness such as cancer. In each of these instances, individuals want to change the look and feel of the breast for their own benefit.

If you are not sure if you want to have breast implants or not, it is best to meet with a professional surgeon specializing in breast augmentation. Talk to them about your options and about how safe the procedure can be for you. Many people will benefit from having this procedure done, from not only their physical appearance but how they view themselves as well. Consider your options carefully.
